The personal touch - Either Paul or Brian were in attendance every day and night - and Gilbert too, of course!

          I didn't stay long enough!

We wanted to stay at a castle and the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel fit. It is in a good location and was close to Kylemore Abbey which was definitely worth visiting.

The only complaint about the castle was were the beds. They were very uncomfortable, seemed rather old.

Great staff lovely views very special place for a treat food amazing !

Four poster beds look good but not very comfy !

The location is just beautiful. The staff was amazing - we were well taken care of but also felt at home. The food was out of this world!!

The welcome from a french girl and the staff The presence in the entrance of Guilbert the Parrot ! The luxuary of the place well located.

The variety of the food for dinner

It was really fun staying in a castle for a night. The price for this was reasonable considering that it was a castle. The dinner was exceptional. It was a little pricey, but worth the experience.

Atmosphere, music at night, champagne reception pre-dinner, attentive owner and staff, style and location.

        • Older travelers
          6.2

The ambience of the place was friendly and homely. The entertainment at night was lively and informal.

The breakfast was cold. The bacon was difficult to cut and barely edible.

        • Older travelers
          8.2

All the employees were very courteous, however the barkeeper, Roger, was more like an old friend. He made our stay more than just enjoyable.

The public rooms are great--feeling of a castle though it never was. The staff ws very welcoming and accomodating and the champagne reception fun. I was sick the whole time so I can't wax too poetic....chose it because of the music scene but too sick to really take advantage of it. The dining room pianist was wonderful. Fun in the pub also for the short time I was there--but like everywhere, the music was too amped up.

Bedrooms and baths could use a bit of a facelift.

Everything satisfactory. We stayed in room 44 which was very spacious and comfortable but dark and it was difficult to read the papers even in daylight

a very nice spot to relax. We enjoyed the atmosphere, food and staff. Fireplace in the room a plus.

tough to try to be a 5 star hotel in the future without significant expenditures on an old place.

The food was excellent and the deserts are to die for and you can go back for more !!!! Dining service very good, and the owner was had his sleaves rolled up ! which is great to see.

it was excellent. the whole manner. the afternoon tea , the singsong at night. no complaints.

          nothing.

          9.6

We arrived @12 to attend a wedding being held elsewhere. I hadn't realised that check in was after3 o clock but the kind Receptionist Martina I think, accommodated our early arrival. We enjoyed the romantic setting, fireplace in the spacious bedroom, and it was very very relaxing.

it wasn't clear that check in was later than other hotels
