I very much liked the familarity of the staff, it was a very homely feeling to the hotel. There was complementary afternoon tea which I thought was a lovely and rare touch. Also available was a Champagne reception which unfortunately we could not attend as we had booked dinner in a restaurant a distance away and had we stayed for reception we would have missed our booking, but it seems to have been a huge success.
I did not like the buffet style breakfast. On the Saturday morning the (cooked) breakfast was so cold I could not eat it and unfortunately as I have an allergy to dairy products, cereral was not an option for me. So while I had fruit etc this did not suffice for me and while on our travels around Connemara had to stop to eat along the way. On Sunday morning there was no such problem.
Visited the area by car, beautiful scenery
Staff all very good but slightly reserved
Staff and inn-keeper are all great as is the location
The restaurant was the best in Clifden !
The rooms were dated, musty and damp !
Very friendly and welcoming staff, excellent service and great surrounding landscape for a fair price. If you're looking for a nice place to spend a weekend, or only a day, in western Ireland this hotel is highly recommended.
we got lovely romantic room, rm 38 very comfortable, it was such a relaxing break with our daughter who is 8 months old it was my husbands 40th birthday and he loved it. breakfast and afternoon tea was great, staff are very friendly we missed the entertainment on both nights next time i will take a baby sitter!!!! would definately recommend it!
The good customer service which was highly apparent. We were made most welcome and it lived up to the previous rating on this aspect. The afternoon tea was also welcome and breakfast was excellent one of the best we have had.
The only let down for us was the room, it was very dusty around the window sills, wardrobes and the bedspread had a stain which was unpleasant.
The entertainment and atmosphere 150% cant get this in other hotels.
Food excellent, music and craic provided by brian makes everybody 'shine' the staff are exceptional and rodger is a great addition to the team. 100%irish hospitality.
Friendly efficient service, comfortable and spacious bedroom, excellent food at both dinner and breakfast
No hot water in bedroom 42 on morning of 13 february
Friendly homely atmosphere, in an amazing setting. Owner was there to welcome youand help with any queries you may have .
The atmosphere was very personal and the staff were extremely friendly.
I loved the idea of spending the night in a castle!
We loved everything about our stay, except it was too short
Full of character. Food and atmosphere excellent. Standard rooms and bathrooms quite small and in need of some updating.
Shower unit was poor - either too hot or too cold.
Generally clean. Good choice for breakfast, attentive service.Piano entertainment in bar on some evenings enjoyable
Extremely hard beds Double bed was twin beds pushed together with uncomfortable crack down the middle Room smelt musty. Had to ask for bath robes, toiletries basic Did not dine in hotel-uninspiring menu for set dinner relative to price
a geat place for all types of activities, ,golf, shopping,or just relaxing. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull, and the food was excellent.Afternoon complimentary tea , coffee, and scones is a good idea just what is needed after a long walk or a days shopping
ly The spa room was very dissappointing [a tiny room tucked away beside the lift]it would not be a place i would call a spa room ,i only went to look at it and i found it quite scary
